Scientific research
There are two national scientific research platforms, namely Wuhan Comprehensive New Drug Research and Development Technology Platform and National Nanopharmaceutical Engineering Technology Research Center. The School of Pharmacy has Hubei Key Laboratory of Natural Medicine Chemistry and Resource Evaluation, Hubei Modern Drug Delivery System Engineering Technology Research Center, Wuhan Natural Medicine Engineering Center, Huazhong University of Science and Technology Biomedical Research Institute, etc. In recent years, the School of Pharmacy has won seven national “Major New Drug Creation” projects, one 863 project of Ministry of Science and Technology, one key research and development project, eight provincial key research and development projects, and fifteen scientific and technological awards at or above the provincial level. In the past five years, the number of SCI papers published by the School of Pharmacy has increased year by year, and the quality of papers has been significantly improved. A total of 657 SCI academic papers (including 44 papers with IF>10 and 453 papers with Q1) have been published, including J. Hepatol., JACS, Angew. Chem., Nano. Lett., Adv. Funct. Mater., Nat. Prod. Rep.. The School of Pharmacy has made important contributions to the “Chemistry” discipline of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, entering the top 1‰ of ESI international rankings, and the “Pharmacology and Toxicology” and other disciplines entering the top 1% of ESI international rankings.
The School of Pharmacy has established long-term cooperative relations with more than ten pharmaceutical enterprises, including Renfu Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd., Zhuhai Rundu Pharmaceutical, Qirui Pharmaceutical, and Tianqin Group. They have jointly built the new drug research and development platform, carried out a number of new drug researches and development projects, and provided technical services for many pharmaceutical enterprises, which has achieved great social and economic benefits. The School of Pharmacy has successfully developed twenty-three new drugs (including nine new drugs of Class II) and transferred them to pharmaceutical enterprises. There are still five first-class new drugs and more than ten other types of drugs under development.
