From March 28 to March 31, vice-president Chen Jianguo, Secretary of the party committee of the School of Pharmacy Li Yan, assistant dean of the School of Pharmacy Wu Tongbo, and others were invited to visit the University of Birmingham (UoB) in the United Kingdom. Chen Jianguo met with the UoB's vice chancellor and principal, Adam Tickell, and deputy pro vice chancellor, Jon Frampton, for in-depth talks on deepening the two schools' core partnership and running a pharmaceutical undergraduate program. Adam Tickell said Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) is one of the most important partners in China and that the upcoming joint education programme (JEP) in Pharmacy between the two universities would be an important exploration in the joint development of international talents. During the visit, the two universities also held the launching of the HUST-UoB Young Scholars programme and the first joint working meeting of the JEP. The JEP working team from the two universities had an in-depth exchange of content such as quality assurance systems, teacher support, student support, and financial agreement. The timetable of the work plan for the next one and a half years of the JEP has been determined.
