On May 10th, Professor Fernão Castor Braga, from Minagiras Federal University,Brazil, visited HUST and conducted an academic exchange in the conference room of the School of Pharmacy.
At the beginning of the meeting, the dean of the Pharmacy Department, Professor Zhiping Zhang, on behalf of the School of Pharmacy, expressed a warm welcome to Professor Fernão and introduced the academic backgrounds and research direction of Professor Fernão. Professor Fernão Castor Braga praised HUST's campus environment and expressed his expectation for scientific research and academic exchanges between the two universities in various research fields, such as natural medicine extraction and drug delivery.
In his academic presentation, Professor Fernão Castor Braga introduced the opportunities for drug development created by Brazil's unique ecological environment, which has the largest flora on earth, and the extraction of active ingredients from plants is the first step in their research and development. They extracted and purified compounds from plants, and then studied their properties for use in the development of new herbal medicines or nano-delivery systems. The faculty and students of the School of Pharmacy showed great interest in Professor Fernão Castor Braga's research, and jointly discussed the existing methods and cooperation prospects for the screening of extracts and the optimization of nanodrug delivery.
Finally, the faculty and students of the School of Pharmacy once again expressed a warm welcome to Professor Fernão Castor Braga, and the professor also expressed his vision to strengthen academic cooperation and exchanges between the two universities.
