Over 20 international students from Europe participated in this two-week program, immersing themselves in Chinese medicine and culture through five dynamic modules, fostering cross-cultural understanding and academic collaboration.
Lectures on Chinese Medicine: Blending Tradition and Innovation
Professor Wu Yunxia delivered a captivating lecture on "Chinese Medicine: History and Frontiers," covering its historical evolution, core philosophies like Yin-Yang and the Five Elements, and advancements in natural product research. She highlighted key discoveries in bioactive compounds and future research directions.

Through interactive demonstrations of traditional diagnostic methods—observation, listening, inquiry, and pulse-taking—students' curiosity for Chinese medicine was ignited.
Industry and Clinical Visits: Bridging Theory and Practice
Union Hospital Exploration
Students visited the Clinical Pharmacy Department at HUST's Union Hospital, touring the IV admixture center, formulation lab, personalized medicine platform, outpatient pharmacy, and clinical consultation services.

They explored standardized drug preparation, automated equipment, hospital-formulated drug production, and precision medicine based on genetic and metabolic profiling. Observing pharmacists optimize treatments through patient consultations, students gained insights into real-world applications.

At the hospital's history museum, they traced its legacy since 1866, with one student translating Arabic medical records from international aid efforts, showcasing global medical collaboration.

WuhanQRPharmaceuticals Tour
At WuhanQRPharmaceuticals, a leading regional enterprise, students learned about its history, core products, manufacturing, and corporate social responsibility.

They toured the sterile injection workshop, observing automated freeze-dried powder production lines designed to minimize contamination risks, deepening their understanding of industry-academia synergy.
Laboratory Training: Building Skills and Bonds

Guided by over 10 professors, students conducted hands-on experiments in professional labs. A safety training session by Vice DeanProf.Zeng Jing emphasized operational protocols.

Collaborative lab work with HUST students fostered teamwork and laid the groundwork for future international research partnerships.
Lushan FieldPractice: Exploring Nature and Science
In the second week, students joined over 100 HUST undergraduates and faculty for a medicinal plant study at Lushan Scenic Area. Professor Wang Jianping delivered lectures on natural drug fundamentals and plant collection techniques, followed by field demonstrations.

Students collected and processed standardized plant specimens, completing mandatory tasks with a sense of achievement while enjoying Lushan's natural beauty and Chinese tourism culture.

The summer camp provided a vibrant platform for international students to explore Chinese medicine and culture while forging lasting friendships with HUST peers.

Part of HUST's Global Summer School and supported by the "DiscoveratHUST" program, the camp enhanced the university's global appeal and the pharmacy program's international influence. It strengthened ties with institutions like Philipps-Universität Marburg, promoted campus diversity, and boosted students' global competence.
The program also deepened university-industry partnerships, amplifying HUST's social impact and aligning local enterprises with global standards. This initiative elevated the College of Pharmacy's capacity to organize large-scale international events, empowering students and faculty with enhanced global competitiveness.
